CMP Complaints

If we get it wrong, this is the route.

This page is about complaints against us — this website and the way it is run. It is not about complaints against investment firms, which follow a different route entirely.

01 Our process

Four steps, and the dates we hold ourselves to.

  1. Write to us

Send it through the contact form, choosing “a complaint about this site”. Say what you are complaining about, on which page, and what you would like us to do.

Evidence to include: the page URL, the wording concerned, and any confirmation reference you hold.

  2. We acknowledge it

We will acknowledge your complaint, state the date we received it, and tell you who is dealing with it. If the complaint is about the accuracy of a page, we will look at the source it cites rather than re-arguing it.

Timeline: [CONFIRM: acknowledgement period, e.g. 5 working days]

  3. We respond in writing

We will set out what we found, whether we accept the complaint, what we are changing, and when. If the remedy is a correction, the page carries the date of the change.

Timeline: [CONFIRM: final response period, e.g. 8 weeks]

  4. If you remain dissatisfied

You can take the matter further. For a data-protection complaint, that means the Information Commissioner’s Office. For anything else, we set out the escalation route that applies to us when our regulatory position is confirmed.

Escalation: [CONFIRM: ICO reference, or the route that applies to the business]

02 Scope

What we can fix, and what we cannot.

We can fix

  • A figure, limit or deadline that is out of date or wrong
  • A statement the cited source does not support
  • A page that misleads about what the checker does
  • An accessibility barrier on this site
  • A problem with how we handled your data

We cannot resolve

  • Your complaint against an investment firm
  • Whether you have a claim, or what it is worth
  • A decision the Ombudsman or FSCS has made
  • A dispute with a claims management company or a solicitor
  • Anything requiring us to give you legal advice

Where a complaint about us ends up

  • First, the firm.Write to Edward & Amaury Solicitors at info@edwardamaury.co.uk or Pacific House, Fletcher Way, Parkhouse, Carlisle, CA3 0LJ. Mark it as a complaint and we will tell you when to expect a reply.
  • Then, the Legal Ombudsman. It deals with complaints about the service a solicitor has given. Time limits apply to taking a complaint there, so do not sit on it.
  • And the SRA.The Solicitors Regulation Authority handles complaints about a solicitor’s conduct rather than their service. Our number there is 800525.
  • [CONFIRM: ICO registration number for data complaints]

We do not set the Ombudsman’s or the SRA’s timescales, and no internal target of ours shortens your time to go to either of them.
