Plain terms, in ten short clauses. They cover what this site is, what the checker does, the limits of our liability, and how the content may be used.

Information, not advice
This website provides general information about mis-sold investments in the United Kingdom. It is not legal, financial, tax or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation about any product, firm or course of action. Nothing here creates a solicitor–client relationship, an adviser–client relationship, or any obligation on us to act for you.

The checker produces an indicator
The claim checker applies eight documented rules to the answers you provide in order to produce an indicator. It does not know your file, cannot assess evidence, cannot value a claim, and does not predict an outcome. You should not treat its output as advice or as a reason to delay taking proper advice.

Accuracy and currency
We take care to quote rules from their official sources and to state the date we last checked each of them. Rules, limits and deadlines change. Content is provided as at the review date shown on the page, and we give no warranty that it remains current or complete.

Your use of the content
You may read, print and share our pages for your own personal or professional use, including with a client or adviser, provided you do not alter the content or remove the attribution. You may not republish it at scale, resell it, or present it as your own work without written permission.

Limits of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from reliance on the information on this site, from the output of the checker, or from any interruption to the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

No cold contact, and no fees taken
We do not charge for the checker and we do not take a share of anything you recover. We do not cold-call. If you are contacted by someone claiming to act for us and you did not ask to be contacted, do not send documents or bank details, and check the contact details published on this site.

Third-party links
We link to regulators, the Financial Ombudsman Service, FSCS and legislation. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content. Links are provided so you can check what we say against the primary source.

Privacy and cookies
Our handling of personal data is set out in the privacy notice, and what we store in your browser is set out in the cookie policy. In short: the checker computes its result in your browser, and nothing is shared with anyone unless you give separate consent.

Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version published on this page, with the review date shown below, is the version that applies. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the change.

Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law requires another court to have jurisdiction.
